Planting apple trees and spreading compost.
With the help of neighbour and his mini digger we planted 28 apple trees in the steeper part of the small field.
It took about an hour to dig 28 holes with a mini digger which otherwise would have probably taken two of us all day. We then planted Locally grown Cornish Heritage apple trees from Tim Pickles of Lower Killogorick. For more information about Cornish Heritage apples trees phone Tim on 01579 321570.
In each hole we put a bucket full of well composted farm yard manure that was kindly supplied by our neighbour at Penbugle Farm.
Today we planted:
3x Pascoe's Pippin (M26 mid/late Desert)
3x Collogett Pippin (MM111 mid season Cooker/Cider)
3x King Byerd (MM111 Desert mid/late)
3x Fairfield (MM106 Dersert second early)
3x Strawberry Pippin (M26 Desert early)
3x Tommy Knight (MM106 Desert/cider late)
3x Polly Whitehair (MM106 late dersert/cooker)
1x Hockings green (M26 Desert/cooker mid to late)
3x Long keeper (MM106 Dersert mid to late)
3x Bread Fruit (M26 Desert/cooker late)
While the mini digger was here this morning it assisted in loading the muckspreader with compost. In total about 10 tons of compost was spread on plot 1 of South Park. Next time it is dry enough (hopefully next weekend) it will be rotavated and we will plant the next lot of broad beans and begin to drill salad, chard, turnips, radish, carrots and beetroot.
