Today we made the difficult decission to treat the blight on the tomatoes plants with copper sulphate. Battling against the continuing damp and cold weather, for two weeks now we have been vigourously pruning infected leaves and liquid feeding with nettle and dock tea. But with little prospect of the plants surviving long enough to give us a crop we asked for and got a derigation from the Soil Association to spray them with copper sulphate. Untill recently this chemical was freely used by organic growers but now (quite rightly) permission has to be sort before using it. With a little bit more sun we should have our first tomatoes on there way soon.
