POLE BARN CONSTRUCTION,
A FREE FOUR DAY COURSE

Using sustainable, locally sourced timber.
Pole raising:
Sat/Sun, 11th/ 12th August
Framing:
Sat/Sun, 18th/19th August

The barn will measure 8m by 12m and is 6m high to the ridge. It will be constructed using the pole barn method, and will consist of 12, 7m long round Douglas Fir poles sunk into holes in the ground, then after erection the poles will be framed using sawn timber to form the ridge, wall plates and bracing. When finished the barn will be roofed in turf and clad in Cedar featheredge board.
With the support of Cornwall Sustainable Buildings Trust, Tino Rawnsley, an experienced and respected local woodsman, will be leading the pole raising and framing. Then throughout August and September there will be informal opportunities for volunteers to get involved with framing, stud work, roofing and turfing.

Basic accommodation is available on the farm.
